Nature Publishing Group (NPG) is an international publisher of high impact scientific and medical information in print and online. NPG publishes journals, online databases, and services across the life, physical, chemical and applied sciences and clinical medicine. Nature, first published in 1869, is NPG’s flagship publication and a very prestigious weekly multidisciplinary journal around the world. NPG is a division of Macmillan Publishers Ltd, a global publishing group founded in the United Kingdom in 1843.

Ms. Henchley first introduced the way that the publishing system works for Nature Publishing Group and how their press office works. She pointed out that the press office works closely with the author and the institution of a paper to prepare the report before it is published formally. Furthermore, they created a database for over 4000 journalists to find the paper they are interested and write a comment or report on it. She hoped that NPG and Beida could set up a system to communicate effectively and best coordinate to promote Chinese research to Chinese media.

Jiang welcomed the delegation and said that Nature Publishing Group enjoyed a high reputation in institutions and universities in the world. As one of the best universities in China, Peking University always endeavors to develop its scientific research and publish its papers in Nature. Every year, Beida researchers published quite a lot research papers in journals of NPG, which accounted for a considerable percentage in all China’s publications in Nature and Nature series. He expressed his hope to strengthen the collaboration with NPG and spread Beida’s science achievements.

Both sides agreed to establish a straight, effective and collaborative relation to make sure that Beida’s scientific research can be understood and communicated in China.
