PKU Law School ranks the Asian Top 3 Law School for the fourth perennial year

Peking University, March 12, 2018: On March 2, 2018, Quacquarelli Symonds released its latest World University Rankings by Subject Law. Evaluated by four criteria, including academic reputation, citations per paper, employer reputation and H-index citations, Peking University Law School ranked the 21st in the world with the total score of 81.1. It is the fourth perennial year that PKU law School has ranked the first in Mainland China and the top 3 in Asia.
As one of the most distinguished departments of social science in Peking University and one of PKU’s 29 world top 50 academic subjects, PKU Law School dedicates itself to making the university a world-class academic institution with Chinese characteristics. PKU Law School focuses on cultivating legal elite with both individual integrity and professional competence. In addition to teaching theoretical knowledge and concentrating on domestic issues, the school also encourages its students to put knowledge into practice and broaden their horizon on an international scale. In 2017, PKU law school opened two practical courses, respectively “Criminal Defense Legal Practice” and “International Commercial Arbitration”, and has continued to offer and a series of featured courses such as “Contract Legal Practice”, “Legal Clinic”, “Tianyuan Lawyer Practice” and “Case Studies in Civil Law”, which empowers students with practical ability for dialectical thinking and problem solving.
Aiming to become a world-class institution of law studies, PKU Law School puts a great deal of effort into personnel cultivation and international cooperation. In the academic aspect, the faculty with 36 research centers have published 24 types of high-quality academic journals, among which Peking University Law Journal is included in the list of CSSCI journals. Meanwhile, in order to nurture well-rounded legal professionals, PKU law school provides its personnel with opportunities to study or lecture in law academies abroad, enabling individuals to improve themselves comprehensively in the long run and thus, receives a high reputation from global employers. Moreover, PKU Law School also takes an active part in hosting international conferences and lectures, recruiting exchanges students throughout the world, and opening up courses, which international lecturers can introduce foreign legal systems.
