Peking University, October 31, 2017: Professor Jiang Qian of the Hematology Department of Peking University People’s Hospital (PKUPH) was invited to become a member of the International Chronic Myeloid Leukemia Foundation (iCMLf) National Representative Committee. Professor Jiang Qian is the only Chinese expert who has been invited to join the committee and she has been widely recognized for her work in CML research and clinical practice.
The iCMLf was established in 2009 by a group of hematologists with a strong interest in Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML) and is led by Professor John Goldman from Imperial College London. The aims of iCMLf are to foster and coordinate global clinical and research collaborations and to improve clinical practice and disease monitoring in CML. The iCMLf National Representative Committee now consists of 36 members, who participate in the meetings and decision-making process of the iCML to help domestic doctors and people with CML get involved in relevant activities.
In 2015, Professor Jiang Qian became the first Chinese doctor to be invited to give a talk during the iCMLf Forum. Internationally well-known CML experts, Professor Giuseppe Saglio from Università di Torino and Professor Dong-Wook Kim from Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital, both praised Professor Jiang, stating that her work provided a window for CML treatment and monitoring in China. They said the successful experience of China in fighting CML was a good example for doctors worldwide.
Professor Jiang Qian, M.D., who is a senior physician and a doctoral supervisor, is the chief of the Hematology ward of Peking University People’s Hospital. She graduated from Beijing Medical University (now Peking University Health Science Center). Her professional focus has been in acute and chronic leukemia and myeloproliferative diseases (MPN), especially CML.
