Peking University, Oct. 30, 2017: On October 25, 2017, the annual Ho Leung Ho L ee Award-giving Ceremony was wrapped up in Beijing and 52 preeminent scientific and technical workers received their prizes which were taken to be the most influential and authoritative non-governmental award for science and technology in China. And Jiang Baoguo, president of Peking University People’s Hospital, was awarded the 2017 HLHL-Scientific and Technological Progress Prize.
Liu Yandong, vice premier of the State Council, gave congratulations on the opening of the ceremony to those award-winners. And Vice Chairman Zhang Baowen of the NPC Standing Committee, as well as Wan Gang, who serves as vice chairman of the CPPCC and minister of China’s Ministry of Science and Technology, attended the ceremony to present award medals to those scientists in recognition of their prominent achievements.
The Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation was set up in 1994 by four patriots from Hong Kong: Ho Sin Hang, Leung Kau Kui, Ho Tim and Lee Quo-wei. And the charitable funds were intended to be given to Chinese scientists of remarkable achievements. The 2017 HLHL Award Committee finally chose 2 scientists as the winners of this year’s HLHL-Scientific and Technological Achievement Prize, 34 of Scientific and Technological Progress Prize, and 16 of Scientific and Technological Innovation Prize.

So far, three scientists from Peking University People’s Hospital have won the HLHL-Scientific and Technological Progress Prize: Lu Daopei, Feng Chuanhan, and Jiang Baoguo.
As a famous expert in traumatology and a vanguard in the up-to-date traumatology, Professor Jiang Baoguo was awarded the 2017 HLHL-Scientific and Technological Progress Prize. Professor Jiang has initiated the formulation of written standards for curing serious traumas and developed by his own an information-exchange system between accident spots where first-aids are carried out and hospitals. In addition, as a leading expert in China’s 973 Project, Professor Jiang has come up with many ground-breaking hypothesis supported by systematic proving.
