Peking University, Beijing, Dec. 16th, 2008: The scholarship presentation ceremony of 2007-2008 school year, was held in the PKU’s Hall in the afternoon of December 12th. Zhou Qifen, President of PKU, Lin Jianhua, executive vice president of PKU, Zhang Yan and Wang Limei, deputy party secretaries, Hai Wen, vice president of PKU, and other leaders of PKU awarded the award-winning students with representatives from more than 30 social organizations which had donated scholarships of Mercedes-Benz, Samsung, China Resources, China Industrial and Commercial Bank and so on.

In total, more than 70 scholarships, which added up to 12 million yuan, were awarded to over 3300 students; that is 3600 yuan per capita for average. Among them, scholarships for freshmen were jointly funded by PKU and the community, including Friend of PKU (Hong Kong) Ltd., the Hina Group and so on. In addition, there were about 10 scholarships newly established this year, including the "Li Huirong Scholarship Fund" which was set up with a 10,000,000 yuan donation from the Canadian Chinese Mr. Li Huirong.
