Secretary Min Weifang Meets “PKU TORiSAN Creative Forum” Special Guest Mr. Teisuke Kitagawa

PekingUniversity, Beijing, March 6th, 2009: Peking University Party Secretary Min Weifang had a meeting with majority stock holder and president of Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group Mr. Teisuke Kitagawa, and other representatives of SMFG at PKU’s Linghu Xuan. Accompanying Min were PKU President assistant/Dean of Guanghua School of Management Zhang Weiying, the Vice Dean of GSM/ PKU National Hi-Tech Research Institute Executive Vice President Wu Changqi and others.

During their meeting,Secretary Min introduced PKU’s history and important position in the Chinese history to Mr. Kitagawa and the other guests. Min pointed out that Peking University’s friendly relationship with many diverse Japanese societies as well as close connections in the areas of higher education. As for collaboration with Japanese enterprises, Min mentioned specially PKU’s University Historical Museum which was sponsored by seventy different businesses, for that he thanked the Japanese enterprises for their support.

 

Chinaand Japan are two influential countries, said Min. Both countries are vital and hold great responsibility for the balance, peace and development of the Asian Pacific as well as global areas. He specially emphasized how PKU is one of the core characters to the friendly relationship between Japan and China, PKU will continue to focus on promoting the relationship growth between the two countries and help the people of both countries to better understand each other.

 

Mr. Teisuke Kitagawa first thanked PKU for their warm welcome. He was very pleased to have the opportunity to speak at PKU and was delighted to discuss different issues with the students and teachers of PKU. During this special period, the two countries should work together to contribute to society, says Kitagawa.

After the meeting, Secretary Min offered a gift to Mr. Kitagawa on behalf of Peking University and took photos with all the guests.

Mr. Kitagawa then moved to Guanghua School of Management to speak at the “Peking University TORiSAN Creative Forum”. The topic on which he shared was “Global Economics Trend: Development Direction of Japanese Banks”.
