PKU joins UNESCO-Africa-China High-level Dialogue

Peking University, June 26, 2020: On June 24, UNESCO-Africa-China High-level Dialogue for Supporting Priority Africa in the COVID-19 and Post-COVID Context was held in the form of video conferencing. Chen Baosheng, minister of Education of China attended the conference and delivered a keynote speech. Tian Xuejun, vice minister of Education of China and director of the National Commission of China for UNESCO, and Firmin Edouard Matoko, assistant director-general for Priority Africa and External Relations (ADG/PAX), co-chaired the conference. Ministers of Education and University Presidents from Côte d'Ivoire, Egypt, Ethiopia, Mali, Namibia, Togo and other African countries, and officials of the National Commission of UNESCO, also attended the conference.
On behalf of Chinese universities, Peking University President Hao Ping made a speech, calling for joining hands to create a bright future.
The Dialogue, co-sponsored by China and UNESCO, aims to implement the spirit of the Extraordinary China-Africa Summit on Solidarity against COVID-19, exchange experience and best practices in the anti-epidemic fight, and explore practical measures to support Africa in the COVID-19 and post-COVID context. Both China and African countries took an active part in the conference, discussing how to strengthen China-Africa cooperation under the framework of UNESCO.
