Peking University, Aug. 24, 2013: On August 19, a delegation of 5 led by Neil Bush, son of former U.S. President George Bush and chairman of George Bush Presidential Library Foundation, visited Peking University Health Science Center (PUHSC).
The two sides planned to discuss the related issued of 2014 Symposium of China-U.S. Relations.Since 2003, the foundation has been holding the symposiums with The Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), and the theme for the 6th symposium next year will be: “Global Infectious Diseases—Prepare And Respond.”
Due to its eminent academic influence in the field of infectious-disease, PUHSC was specially invited to co-organize this symposium by the foundation and CPAFFC.
Fang Weifang, vice president of PUHSC, met with the guests. Fang said that this symposium was very significant for the establishment of a better mutual understanding between both countries, as well as a closer bilateral relationship. It would be an honor for PUHSC to be part of this symposium, wishing to promote China-U.S. medical communications, meanwhile contribute to people’s health and the establishment of the global infectious disease prevention and health care system as well.
Neil Bush said it was a powerful guarantee for the academic building of the symposium with the cooperation of PUHSC this time.
Various details of the 2014 symposium were discussed during the meeting.
Academician ZhuangHui from Peking University Health Science Center Department of Pathogen Biology was appointed director of the committee from the China side, while Professor Brett Giroir from Texas A&M University System as the counterpart from the U.S.
