PKU Professor Chang Zengyi selected as chairman of APPA

Peking University, Jun. 11, 2011: Nominated by Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) member Wang Zhizhen, Peking Univesity (PKU) Professor Chang Zengyi, chairman of the Chinese Protein Society and executive member of the Protein Society, was selected as the chairman of Asia Pacific Protein Association (APPA) on May 5 in Shanghai. He has a three-year term of service.

APPA has more than 11 members, including China, Japan, Australia, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand, India, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, and Vietnam. APPA’s third academic conference was held in Shanghai from May 6th to 9th. The fourth one will be held in Korea in 2014.

Professor Chang Zengyi, deputy dean of the PKU School of Life Sciences and director of the Center for Protein Science, is executive member of the Chinese Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and member of the Biophysical Society of China. He is also editor of Science China-Life Sciences, Journal of Biological Chemistry, Protein Science, IUBMB Life, and some other international academic journals. Professor Chang focuses his research on the fields of stress response and aging mechanism and mechanism and biological significance of protein-protein interactions.
