Peking University holds undergraduate education meeting

Peking University, April 11, 2019: Peking University held the undergraduate education meeting at Yingjie Exchange Center on April 2. The meeting, centered on the thorough implementation of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s guideline on higher education, aimed at developing a world-class undergraduate education system branded with Chinese characteristics and PKU style. PKU Council Chair Qiu Shuiping, PKU President Hao Ping, and other leaders in charge of undergraduate education attended this meeting. 


At the meeting

Qiu Shuiping pointed out President Xi’s emphasis on undergraduate education and that Xi’s discourses on higher education had formulated an integrated system of socialist education with Chinese characteristics. Insisting on undergraduate education as the prerequisite of higher education development, Qiu, on behalf of PKU Council, emphasized that we should regard undergraduate education as the core work of talent cultivation, deepen the curriculum innovation, and promote undergraduate education in all aspects to train excellent students. 

Hao Ping stressed that improving undergraduate education should be one of the most important works this year. He also recognized the outstanding achievements of undergraduate education over the years, including the fruits harvested in education system, platform and mode, teacher evaluation and so on. He said that undergraduate education should adhere to correct political orientation and carry out the whole process of cultivating people with moral integrity. 

Director of Teaching Affairs Office Fu Suiyan and Director of Student Affairs Office Zhang Lixin gave reports respectively on the challenges faced by moral education in universities. Moreover, representatives of teachers and students gave insightful keynote speeches about the development of undergraduate education respectively.
