Peking University deepens cooperation with Tianjin

Peking University, April 2, 2019: Li Hongzhong, secretary of Tianjin Municipal Party Committee, visited Peking University on March 27 and had a productive discussion with PKU council chairman Qiu Shuiping and PKU President Hao Ping.
Qiu stated that as the Coordinated Development Strategy of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei carries out, Peking University will unswervingly provide necessary help to Tianjin’s long-term development, and the cooperation would bear the hallmark of win-win outcome. Qiu added that Peking University and Tianjin enjoy a profound relationship and a solid foundation of cooperation. In this regard, it is expected that both sides can strengthen pragmatic cooperation in different fields, thus advancing the development of Tianjin and driving PKU’s “Double First-Class” construction.
Hao Ping proposed the following suggestions regarding the cooperation direction: to deepen the collaboration with Tianjin in sci-tech research and its application; to make full use of the high-quality medical resources of Peking University in the promotion of healthcare collaboration; to give full play of PKU’s multidisciplinary advantages in the construction of a think tank; and to enhance the communication in job markets to achieve efficient transportation of talents.
Zhang Guoqing, mayor of Tianjin, introduced Tianjin’s efforts in developing modern economic system and fostering first-class business environment, and he also listed the fruitful results achieved through the cooperation with Peking University in recent years.
Li expressed sincere gratitude for the support offered by Peking University and expressed his expectations of the project. Li noted that Tianjin has a strong demand for Peking University’s excellent talents, frontier development concepts, and cutting-edge innovation project, and he stressed that Tianjin is a promising city where talents can demonstrate their strength and capabilities.
After the thorough discussion, a strategic cooperation framework agreement was signed concerning the collaboration between Tianjin and PKU, forging closer links between the University’s scientific resources and Tianjin’s innovative industry.
