Established on July 1, 2002, the International Criminal Court is the world’s first permanent international criminal court, which plays a crucial role in combating international crimes and establishing a unified international criminal law system. Although China has not yet joined the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, the Chinese government has always been supporting the punishment of crimes against humanity, and paying close attention to the work of the International Criminal Court. Organized by the Grotius Center for International Legal Studies, Leiden University and supported by International Criminal Court, the International Criminal Court Moot Court Competition is one of the most famous global moot court competitions. The competition aims at giving law students from the world's top universities a better understanding of the International Criminal Court and its procedures, encouraging them to protect common interests of human society.
