Peking University signs cooperation agreement with CUHK on dual bachelor’s degree program

Peking University, Feb. 21, 2019: A delegation of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) paid a visit to Peking University on February 26, with delegates including CUHK President Rocky S. Tuan, Vice President Poon Wai-yin and Associate Vice President Wong Suk-ying.

Peking University President Hao Ping extended his warm welcome to their arrival. Hao reviewed the fruitful outcome of research, training and academic exchanges that was achieved through bilateral collaboration. He also anticipated that both sides can beef up China’s socio-economic development through closer cooperation on key areas, such as fintech, AI, medical engineering, the Belt and Road Initiative and the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

CUHK President Rocky S. Tuan expressed his heartfelt thanks to PKU for the hospitality. Tuan recalled that both universities have intimate ties and extensive collaboration. Since the signing of the agreement on academic exchanges in 1985, PKU and CUHK have yielded a wide range of outputs. This time, the two universities will launch two dual bachelor’s degree programs, one in Linguistics and the other in Chinese Language and Literature, aiming to deepen the bilateral cooperation on talent training and work together for a steady growth of the tertiary education in Beijing and Hong Kong.

After the in-depth discussion, the Cooperation Agreement on PKU-CUHK Dual Degree Program was signed by Hao Ping and Rocky S. Tuan, along with the renewal of PKU-CUHK Academic Exchanges Agreement.
