Peking University, Beijing, Mar, 3rd, 2009: On the morning of February 26th, the conference with representatives from the National People's Congress (NPC) and National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) was held in the Conference Room 103 of the Office Building. Present at the conference were: President Zhou Qifeng, Executive Vice-President Ke Yang, Vice-Deputy Secretary of Party Committee Yang He, President Assistant Li Qiang, and other leaders from related departments.
President Zhou Qifeng attended the conference as both the leader of Peking University and representative of the National People's Congress. He briefly analyzed the current social macroscopic situation, and then introduced the country’s recent employment situation and related policies.
President Zhou Qifeng made a report on the major tasks accomplished by the university in the past year to the representatives of NPC and CPPCC. President Zhou stated that all assignments were successfully completed, including the 110th University Anniversary, Beijing Olympics and Paralympics, just to name a few. He also introduced projects and programs PKU has scheduled for 2009. As University President Zhou says, in the New Year, PKU will focus mainly on creating a world-class university, and scientifically planning the University’s long-term development.
Peking University Executive Vice-President and Deputy Director of the Medical Department Ke Yang introduced the Medical Department’s current situation to the NPC and CPPCC representatives, sharing his opinion and advice concerning medical education, medical reform, and scientific research. During the conference, each participant carefully listened to all the different perspectives and suggestions; and shared quality discussion and communication.
It is known that Peking University has eleven members from the National People’s Congress and twenty-three members from the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference attending the national NPC/CPPCC conference. The 11th Annual National People's Congress’s second conference and the 11th Annual National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference’s second conference will be held on March 5th and March 3rd respectively.
