Peking University, December 31, 2020: On December 28, Peking University held a ceremony online and offline to commend the spirit of combating COVID-19 and summarize the efforts done by PKU to prevent and control the pandemic. Individuals and groups who have made outstanding contributions in the fight against the pandemic were honored.
During the pandemic, medical workers from Peking University rushed to the front line to combat the virus, while faculty members and students stood firm in ensuring the operation of the University. Alumni expressed their utmost concern and offered strong support to the efforts in combating the virus. Individuals and groups from Peking University strongly emerged in overcoming the challenges they have faced during the pandemic, thereby demonstrating their fervent spirit and great responsibility.

At the ceremony, 15 groups were awarded with the honorary title of “Outstanding Group with Huge Contributions to the Fight against COVID-19”, 35 groups with the honorary title of “Outstanding Group in the Fight against COVID-19”, 100 individuals with the honorary title of “Role Model in the Fight against COVID-19”, 1400 individuals with the honorary title of “Outstanding Individuals in the Fight against COVID-19”.
In his speech at the ceremony, Peking University Council Chair Qiu Shuiping recalled how PKUers bravely took up the mission of fighting against the pandemic. Qiu said that the commendation ceremony is not only a tribute to the awardees, but also an encouragement to all PKUers to unite and continue to make contributions. He also noted that we should bear in mind the great spirit of combating the COVID-19 epidemic and transform it into impetus that advances the progress of our work.
