Peking University, May 22, 2019: The School of Chinese as a Second Language at Peking University held language activities for international students on May 17, drawing nearly 500 students from 33 different classes.
The international students were allowed to participate in either a cultural workshop or a cultural field trip, and both activities were organized to help these students gain a better understanding of the Chinese culture.
The two activities aim to train students’ Chinese listening and speaking abilities, enrich their own Chinese vocabulary, improve their language expression ability in all-round manners, deepen the friendship between classmates and enhance the communication between teachers and students in different classes. Meanwhile, these students were encouraged to apply what they have learnt into practice, thus testing and improving their command of Chinese in a real-life scenario. Therefore, both activities were well-received amongst international students.
The cultural workshop included kite making, face painting and flute playing, which was a marvellous hands-on experience for these students to savor the time-honored Chinese culture.
