May 26, 2009: On the morning of May 22, the Strategic Conference on the Overseas Student Affairs of Peking University was held in Tan Siu Lin Center for International Studies. Executive Vice President Lin Jianhua, and leaders of all departments and schools and functional departments attended the conference, which was chaired by President Assistant and director of the Office of International Relations, Mr. Li Yansong.
During the conference, Mr. Wang Yong, deputy director of the Office of International Relations, introduced the current situation of overseas student affairs in Peking University. He traced back to the history of development of overseas student affairs, provided profound analysis on the current situation and problems concerning overseas student affairs, and proposed suggestions over the enrollment, cultivation, and management of overseas students.
Following Mr. Wang Yong, administrators of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, Guanghua School of Management, the School of Physics, and the Graduate School of Education, introduced the characteristics and experience of their departments or schools respectively, and also offered some advice upon the enrollment, cultivation and management of overseas students.
Last but not least, Executive Vice President Lin gave his speech. He spoke highly of the achievements the University had obtained in overseas student affairs. Meanwhile, he also pointed out that there were still many problems and challenges concerning overseas student affairs, and he hoped that relevant staff and faculty should use the Scientific Outlook on Development to guide overseas student affairs, seeking to deliver new regulations on overseas student affairs, to promote its development in Peking University.
