Peking University, Beijing, April 7, 2009: On April 5^th, the final round of the PKU Debate Competition was held in the Yingjie Exchange Center. Debaters from the School of Foreign Languages, having two consecutive wins in the last two years, took the positive side, while debaters from Guanghua School of Management took the negative side of the topic “can terrorism be stopped in a peaceful way”.

The judging panel consisted of Prof. Jiao Weixin of the School of Earth and Space Science, Prof. Liu Shuxiong, School of Foreign Languages, Prof. Xu Jing, Guanghua School of Management, Zheng Xiaojuan, master candidate of the Dept. of Sociology, Wang Qiushi, master candidate of School of International Studies, and Sun Chuan, leader of the Debate Team of Nanjing University.

The judges spoke highly of the performance of both parties and awarded Huang Xiaohan, Guanghua School of Management, with the prize of “best critical thinking,” and Wang Ruijun, School of Foreign Languages, “best debater.”

Before the final kicked off, an exhibition competition between the all-star team of the PKU Debate Association and the debate team of Nanjing University was held.
