The ceremony began with a video filmed and edited by students of School of International Studies, looking back upon the development history of the Festival and showing the audience what’s coming in a series of activities to be held. Since this year marks the 90th anniversary of Wu Si Movement and the 60th anniversary of the founding of People’s Republic of China, the Festival will focus on the relationships between “retrospect & prospect,” “academic & life,” “history & reality,” and “China & the world,” with the theme of “love China & care for the whole world.”
In his opening speech, PKU Party Vice Secretary Zhang Yan hoped students of SIS would show their own distinctive temperament and spirit to their fellow students.
And Party Secretary of SIS Li Hanmei also expressed her wish that the students would inherit and uphold the spirit of Wu Si Movement, integrating personal development and achievement with the goal of the Party and the central government, and thus contributing to the revival and prosperity of the country.
For years, the Festival has become an important platform for the School of International Studies to promote the development of the “second class” program and educate more and more international talents.
