UCL MBA: Management Attributes for a VUCA World
Mar. 13, 2021

This session's focus is the challenges facing managers as they aspire to implement effective management in a world increasingly VUCA in nature: volatile, uncertain, complex, ambiguous.

This VUCA world reflects the phenomena of globalization, technological change, and new organizational structures, demanding of managers evolving and new attributes. In that context, this session identifies and explores the nature of the attributes managers require to be 'a successful manager'. In particular, it sets considerations against the need for effective management to engender resilience in the face of unexpected and extreme turbulence in the business and economic landscape. Such attributes may develop naturally through management experience but may often require engineered evolution through professional development and engagement with programs of formal study.
