A Letter from YGS 2021
Dear all,
As the flagship event of Yenching Academy of Peking University, the Yenching Global Symposium comprises engaging lectures, panel discussions, and interactive sessions addressing both China’s impact on the world and the influence that the world has on China. Each year, the Symposium welcomes representatives from prestigious academic programs such as the Rhodes Scholars, Fulbright Scholars, and other major fellowship recipients, as well as outstanding young professionals from the world’s leading institutions. The Symposium has provided a platform for emerging leaders, established practitioners, and Yenching Scholars around the globe to engage in interdisciplinary dialogues on China since 2016.
Snapshots from The 4th Yenching Global Symposium
The year 2020 has brought with it unprecedented shifts and challenges to our world, particularly as the COVID-19 pandemic heightened existing tensions, triggered new divides, and entrenched structural inequalities.
In response, and as the year comes to a close, we are excited to announce the theme of our upcoming Symposium: “Shared Renewal: Recoupling East with West”. As such, we will reflect upon the consequences of the pandemic; discuss solutions that build resilient and sustainable societies; and chart the recovery – all with an interdisciplinary and international lens. Given the risks of COVID-19, and to comply with public health regulations, this Symposium will be held online, during April 16-18, 2021.
The Symposium presents you with an opportunity to embark upon a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, in which delegates, scholars, and speakers from all over the globe will build lasting relationships and engage in constructive, solutions-oriented dialogue on China’s role in the world.
We invite you to join us at the Yenching Global Symposium in 2021! We will accept delegate applications between January 1, 2021 (00:01, China Standard Time, GMT+8) and January 31, 2021 (23:59, China Standard Time, GMT+8).
