Peking University, June 1, 2017: From May 7 to 11, the 2017 Annual Meeting of the American Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) was held in the United States. A group of 9 ophthalmologists from Peking University Third Hospital led by Professor Zhang Chun attended the meeting.

Professor Zhang, who has participated in a study conducted by the Department of Anatomy and Histoembryology of PKUHSC ---" special distribution patterns of retinal ganglion cells in giant pandas ", demonstrated for the first time the distribution of retinal ganglion cells in giant pandas and spoke at the meeting.

The annual meeting of the American Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology is a yearly grand international festival on ophthalmology research focusing on new frontiers in ophthalmology and optometry around the world. A number of research achievements reported by the ophthalmologists from Peking University Third Hospital at the conference have gained the attention and recognition of their international counterparts, highlighted the presence of the ophthalmologists from PKU Third Hospital on the international stage and their tremendous strength in both clinical and fundamental research.
