PKU and the University of Exeter sign a memo

Peking University, NOV, 19, 2013: On November 14th, Mr. Steve Smith, president of the University of Exeter, visited Peking University, together with his delegation. PKU vice-president Gao Song met the delegation at Linhuxuan, and the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding on interschool cooperation.

 

PKU vice-president Gao Song welcomed Mr. Steve Smith and his delegation. Gao said that good cooperation had been conducted between the two universities in recent years, such as in the fields of history, public aspects of medicine, arts and so on. And student exchange programs had been carried out. The signing of the memo would provide a framework to support the deep cooperation in the fields of linguistics, law and other humanities between the two schools.

Mr. Smith expressed that in the era of education internationalization, the University of Exeter had attached great importance to the cooperation with the universities in China, especially with PKU. Special funds were paid for PKU scholars and students to visit the University of Exeter each year. During the visit, the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Exeter would sign an agreement with the School of Foreign Languages of PKU, to develop cooperation on the MTI (Master of Translation and Interpreting) program, as well as to discuss the possibilities of cooperation in the subjects of German, French, Russian, law and so on.
