[Beijing Forum 2016] Justin Yifu Lin: The One Belt One Road and Free Trade Zone

Peking University, Nov. 6, 2016: On November 6, the closing ceremony of the 13th Beijing Forum was held in Sunlight Hall, Yingjie Exchange Center. Hundreds of eminent scholars, experts, elected officials, distinguished guests, and participants attended the ceremony.

Justin Yifu Lin, founder and honorary dean of National School of Development of Peking University and also the director of Center for New Structural Economics of Peking University, made the keynote speech on the topic of “The One Belt One Road and Free Trade Zone: Opening Up Initiative and Measure”, which echoes the speech he made in 2004 also during the closing ceremony of the 1st Beijing Forum. 13 years ago, Lin talked about the experience of “Reform and Opening”, this time, he made a speech about One Belt One Road and Free Trade Zone. He proposed with the advantages, including the construction of infrastructure facilities, capital foundation, and the transformation of Labor-intensive enterprises, in China, corresponding with the juncture of “One Belt One Road”, China provides great develop opportunities for countries along, and also plays a crucial role in the economic recovery of other countries. At last, Lin concluded that “One Belt One Road” is the turning point to achieve the harmony of civilizations and prosperity for all.


Around 1p.m., Chairman of Peking University Concil Zhu Shanlu heralded that the 14th Beijing Forum will be held in November 3 to 5, 2017, he warmly invited eminent scholar experts, elected officials, distinguished guests, and participants to not only attend but also contribute to the topic and feature of the 14th Beijing Forum. In the end, PKU Vice President Li Yansong announced the closure of the 13th Beijing Forum.
