The 13th Peking University International Culture Festival held

Peking University, Oct. 26: On October 23, the 13th Peking University International Culture Festival kicked out at PKU Hall. Following the theme “Vision: Voice & Action,” it encouraged students to broaden their horizon and to actively engage in cultural exchanges. International students from more than 60 countries, together with 600 Chinese student volunteers enriched this Festival immeasurably, showing the infinite possibilities of this world.               

Through events such as “the Third German Gut Immling Opera festival,” “Musical Academy Award” and “Top 10 Singers of international Students,” extraordinary voices from around the world were shown to us. Moreover, International Culture festival carries on its traditional activities. Principal activities such as “Booth Exhibition,” “Stage Performance” and “Food Square” interact with competitions such as “Chinese Speaking Competition for international students” and “International Sports Meeting,” creating a colorful campus.

At the Opening ceremony, Li Yansong, vice president of Peking University gave a welcome speech. He pointed out that the openness and diversity manifested by International Culture Festival coincided with the ideal of liberal education advocated by Beida. Following his speech, Dora Costea, Romania ambassador of China addressed the audience, expounding his understanding of “Vision: Voice & Action.” Then, Desta Tesfaw Mebratu from Ethiopia, one of the first students to join the Institute of South-South Cooperation and Development, spoke on behalf of guests, emphasizing the close relationship between Ethiopia and China.

Student Fu Shuna Hannah Feldshuhfrom America also gave a speech , in which she shared her experience in Beida and expressed her earnest wish to get a deeper understanding of China and the world. After Fu Shuna’s speech, Chinese student Xie Yuchengyang calls for Beida students to integrate Chinese traditional culture with international horizon, letting the world know more about China.

Towards the end of the opening ceremony, President Lin Jianhua conferred the flag of International Culture Festival to international students, which marked the formal beginning of this festival.

Wonderful performances
 
Peking University International Culture Festival has always been focusing on innovation and growth. This year, sponsored by video websites Youku, Wangyi and Shiyo, the festival reached an even greater influence through online live streams.
