Peking University Summer School International 2016 starts

Peking University, July 7, 2016:  On July 3rd, Peking University welcomed a great number of students from numerous countries around the world, bringing about the beginning of Peking University Summer School International (PKUSSI) 2016.

With the systematic organization of the Office of International Relations, registration and orientation for international students sailed along smoothly. In the morning of July 3, students having applied for summer school program came to New Sun Student Center to collect student ID, school map and school calendar. This year, the summer school program students reached 241, whose demography consists of: 30 students from NAHSS (Netherlands-Asia Honours Summer School), 41 from the Hong Kong Ten Thousand Talent Program, 8 from CEISS (China Europe International Summer School), 25 from IARU (International Alliance of Research Universities), 10 from King’s College London, 5 from Ecolé de Louvre, 5 from University of Reading, 6 from Nanyang Technological University, 10 from National University of Singapore.

In the afternoon at 4pm, summer school program students participated in the orientation held in Science Teaching Building, Room 207, as their first class in Peking University”. During the course of one hour, students began to familiarize themselves with the life and studies in Peking University through introduction given by the charismatic moderator and obliging program assistants. The event ended in a relaxing, delightful note. After orientation, program assistants guided students in their groups through the school campus to help them find their bearings right away.

In the following month, outside of studying courses taught in both Chinese and English, students are also offered experience of Chinese culture with a series of activities, outings and sightseeings organized by PKUSSI. We sincerely hope that students will take something away from both their academic life and cultural exploration in Peking University.
