President of Nanyang Technological University visits Peking University

Peking University, Mar. 15, 2016: On March 10, a delegation of Nanyang Technological University (NTC) led by President Professor Bertil Andersson, visited Peking University. Zhu Shanlu, chairman of PKU Council, Gao Song, Provost of PKU and Li Xiaoming, Deputy Provost, welcomed the guests at PKU administrative building.
Zhu firstly gave a warm welcome to the delegation. He spoke highly of the achievement of two universities on academic and research cooperation, especially through the platform established with the support of Ng Teng Fong Charitable Foundation — PKU-NTU Joint Research Institute. Then Zhu expressed his expectation of further in-depth cooperation. Zhu hoped that the communication between PKU and Nobel Prize Foundation could be strengthened in the future under the assistance of President Andersson, who is also the former Board member of Nobel Prize Foundation; besides, Zhu suggested a broader communication between the two universities in sustainable development, education, information technology, healthcare and sundry other fields.
President Andersson showed his appreciation of the warm reception. Having been to PKU twice, he expressed his sense of intimacy with the campus during this third visit. As a world-renowned plant biochemist, he congratulated PKU alumna Tu Youyou on rewarding the Nobel Prize. He also endorsed Zhu’s suggestion of the cooperation between two universities in students exchange and scientific research.
After the meeting, the delegation of NTU had a conference with scholars from School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science, PKU, further discussing the cooperation plan.
