Jan 25, 2016

Peking University, Jan. 24, 2016: On the afternoon of January 20th, Lieutenant General Robert Caslen, superintendent of the United States Military Academy at West Point, led a delegation to visit Peking University. Lin Jianhua, president of PKU, Li Yansong, vice president of PKU, Zhao Yang, dean of School of Chinese as a Second Language and Xia Hongwei, director of Office of International Relations welcomed the visitors at Linhuxuan.

President Lin Jianhua introduced the state quo of Peking University and looked back on previous communications between the two schools. Nearly 60 students of USMA had studied Chinese at PKU as exchange students since a Chinese language project was initiated in 20007, which had achieved very good results.

Superintendent Caslen listened to the living and study conditions of the exchange students, as well as suggestions from School of Chinese as a Second Language. He gave sincere compliments to this exchange program.

Later on, both sides suggested that the current cooperation should be deepened and a multi-level exchange program should be established, so that students from both schools can benefit more. For example,  to provide Peking University students with the opportunities to study as short-term exchange students at USMA, and USMA students to participate in a variety of majors besides Chinese language.

In the end, superintendent Caslen invited national defense students at Peking University to attend the annual military training and competition at USMA.
