Associate vice rector of Université Laval visits PKU

Peking University, Mar. 26, 2011: Professor Nicole Lacasse, associate vice rector of Université Laval, and other representatives from Université Laval visited PKU on the afternoon of March 22. Professor Li Yansong, vice president of Peking University, received the guests in the Administrative Building. 

 

 

After Professor Li expressed his warm welcome towards the delegation from Université Laval, Professor Lacasse introduced the basic information of Université Laval and expressed her hope of promoting studentexchanges between Université Laval and PKU. She emphasized that Université Laval had always been trying to broaden the global view and enrich the experience of the students through international exchange programs. At Université Laval, over 50% of the students have been abroad and Professor Lacasse plans to turn Université Laval into a platform of international exchange. Up until now, Laval University has established a complete system of student exchange and has cooperated successfully with some Chinese universities. To conclude, she proposed to build a high-quality and long-term cooperative relationship with Peking University.

 

Professor Li agreed with Professor Lacasse on her proposal and introduced to her the student exchange situation at Peking University. He also expressed his wish to have more international students studying at PKU.

 

The two sides continued to discuss issues concerning concrete details of the cooperation afterwards. PKU representatives who attended the meeting include Director Xia Hongwei, Office of International Relations, Professor Liu Shusen, deputy dean of the School of Foreign Languages, Professor Sun Qiudan, director of the Office of International Cooperation at PUHSC, and Li Xiaojia, director of the Exchange Branch of Office of International Cooperation.

 

 

 

Background Information:
Université Laval is located in Quebec City. Dating back to 1663, it is the first university in Canada and the wellspring of French-language higher education in North America. Université Laval is among the top 10 universities in Canada in terms of scientific research.
