Peking University, Dec 12 , 2015：On the afternoon of December 2nd, president of the University of Toronto Meric Gertler, vice president Judith Wolfson and other staff visited Peking University. Peking university president Lin Jianhua, vice president Li Yansong and director of Office of International Relations Xia Hongwei, welcomed the distinguished guests and both sides discussed the future cooperation between the two universities.
President Gertler said that University of Toronto had achieved significant results in the aspect of international cooperation, and that the number of international students accounted for more than 20% of the total number of its students. President Gertler also said that there were about 7000 Chinese students studying at the University of Toronto at the moment, and he also encouraged more Canadian students to study abroad.
During the meeting, president Gertler showed great interest to the Yenching Academy. President Lin Jianhua said that the Yenching Academy had achieved fairly good results for the first semester, but there were still many things to be improved. President Gertler said, the University of Toronto hoped very much to join in the Yenching Academy Project. Later on, both sides had a thorough discussion in terms of medicine, technology transformation and so on.
