[Beijing Forum 2015] Evening ceremony and student choral festival held in PKU Hall

Peking University, Nov.14, 2015: On the evening of Nov. 11, the evening ceremony of Beijing Forum and the “SongUnion” Student Choral Festival was held in Peking University Hall. PKU Student Choir, Hong Kong University Student Union’s Choir and National Taiwan University Medical Chorus came together to the ceremony.
 
Vice Chair of PKU Council Ye Jingyi delivered the opening speech, pointing out that Beijing Forum had been promoting the role that culture played in the development of the world, and the evening ceremony of Beijing Forum expressed the ideal of a world of diversity through music and other forms of art.

The performance began with Hong Kong University’s Choir and followed by another three teams in turn. Songs varied from classical western music to traditional Chinese style. At the end of performance, the performance culminated with two songs—“You Raise Me Up” and “Auld Lang Syne”—that were sung by all representatives.

Other guests, including Former U.N. Undersecretary Lakha Brahimi and his wife, U.N. Undersecretary General S. Iqbal Riza, the leader of The Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies Park In-kook, and Vice-Principal of Taiwan University Zhang Qingrui, etc, attended the ceremony as well.
 
Apart from the evening ceremony, students and staff in “Song Union” also visited PKU&THU’s campus, National Grand Theater, Great Wall, Bird’s Nest and Water Cube.
 
 
Background info:
On Aug. 25 2014, Song Union was founded in Taipei by Tsinghua University, Peking University, Hong Kong University, Taiwan University and National University of Singapore The name of the union was taken by the symbol of “Pine Tree” which stands for firm relationship. Song Union aims at constructing the communication platform of academy, culture and physical education. By sharing quality educational resources, Song Union wants to promote the cooperation and communication between universities in China.
