Official Delegation of Bayern, Germany Visits PKU

Peking University, Beijing, Apr. 29, 2010: On the morning of Apr 27, PKU President Zhou Qifeng and Executive Vice President Ke Yang met with the Official Delegation of the State of Bayern, Germany to Asia at PKU School of Oncology (Beijing Cancer Hospital). Li Wensheng, Vice Secretary of CPC PKU Health Science Center Committee and You Weicheng, Dean of PKU School of Oncology also attended the reception. The delegation of Bayern was made up of 35 delegates, including Ms. Katja Hessel, State Secretary, Dr. Rohde, Vice President of the Landtag of Bavaria (the state parliament), Dr. Karsten, Minister of German Embassy in China, Dr. Hack, Scientific Counsellor at the Embassy, and Dr. Herrmann, President of the Technical University of Munich.

 

 

The conference was hosted by Prof. Gu Jin, Vice Dean of PKU School of Oncology. Executive Vice President Ke Yang and Vice Secretary Li Wensheng gave a warm welcome to the delegation from Bayern. Then President Zhou Qifeng delivered a speech. After that, Ms. Katja Hessel, Head of the Delegation, Dr. Herrmann, President of Technical University of Munich, and Prof. Meng Liqiu, Vice President of Technical University of Munich also delivered speeches. You Weicheng, Dean of PKU School of Oncology, made an introduction to the school and the projects which both sides were collaborating to work on. After more communication, the two sides gave presents to each other and took photos.

 

 

After the conference, the delegation paid a visit to Colorectal Surgery and laboratories accompanied by professors of PKU School of Oncology. The guest spoke highly of the beautiful environment, high-level medical technology, strong academic atmosphere and advanced medical devices. The delegation will head for Shanghai for the opening of the 2010 World Expo later this week.

 

This event was a return-visit of the Technical University of Munich, which Prof. Ke Yang, You Weicheng and Gu Jin visited last December. A cooperation agreement between the two sides, signed by Vice President Ke, has come into effect since then. Meanwhile, the Technical University of Munich is also a partner on the international project led by Prof. You Weicheng.
