@Beijing Daxue Xinwen Zhongxin, the first officially-run microblog of Peking University, posted its first tweet at 9 am on March 26. Operated by the PKU News Center - as its name indicated, the verified account tweets news stories and pictures mainly from the Chinese version of PKU News.
"I hope the account will always be new, be leading, and be outstanding in the Weibo world," wrote Professor Jiang Langlang, director of the PKU News Center, on his Weibo account.
Other major Chinese universities such as Tsinghua have already established their official microblog accounts at Sina Weibo, China's Twitter-like microblogging service that has over 400 million registered users.
@Beida Zhichuang, debuted in February 2011 and run by Peking University News/Beijing Daxue Yingyu Xinwenwang, is the first PKU campus media verified on Sina Weibo.
