Peking University, May 13, 2013: Han Shihui, professor of psychology at Peking University (PKU), in collaboration with the Germen publisher Springer, recently founded an international academic journal Culture and Brain.

 

Aiming at providing a platform for empirical and review articles that focus on the interrelationship between culture and the human brain, Culture and Brain covers topics such as how the mutual interaction between culture and brain/mind influences human cognition and behavior, what mechanisms underlie cultural experiences and how the cultural diversity of human collectives is created.

 

The first issue, which includes five articles from Chinese, American and Sweden researchers, was published recently.

Professor Han Shihui, Ph.D. 95’ from the University of Science and Technology of China, began his PKU career in 2001, serving as dean of the Department of Psychology from 2003 to 2008. He has published papers introducing scientific concepts, methods, and research progresses relating to cultural neuroscience in world’s neuroscience journals Nature Review Neuroscience in 2008 and Annual Review of Psychology in 2013.
