The Ninth Beijing Forum to Open

Peking University, Oct.24, 2012The Ninth Beijing Forum (2012) will be held in Beijing on November 2-4, 2012. Under the banner of "The Harmony of Civilizations and Prosperity for All", this year the forum will focus on the topic "Challenges and Opportunities: New Thinking in New Reality".

 

About 300 prominent scholars and experts from across the world will attend the forum. They come to bring about valuable references to the reforms and development, and to contribute to the harmony and progress of the society.

 

Under the main topic, there will be eight panel sessions and two special panels this year:

Panel II: Faith and Society: Spiritual Reflections of Global Age
Panel III: Improve Education in the Changing World Economy: Quality, Equity and Efficiency
Panel IV: Inheritance of the World Cities Spirit: Experience and Innovation
Panel V: Construction of Civilizations: Communication of Languages and Dissemination of Classics
Panel VI: Innovation and Change in the Age of Social Media
Panel VII: The Role of Entrepreneurs in the New World Economy Profile
Panel VIII: An Era of Great Transformation: Youth’s Perspective
Student Panel: An Era of Great Transformation: Youth’s Perspective
Harvard-Yenching Institute Panel: Faith, Society and New Social Media

 

Approved by the Chinese Ministry of Education, and under the auspices of the Beijing Municipal Government, Beijing Forum is an international forum co-sponsored by Peking University, Beijing Municipal Commission of Education, and Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies.

 

The general theme of Beijing Forum is “The Harmony of Civilizations and Prosperity for All”. Beijing Forum aims at promoting the study of humanities and social sciences around the world. It endeavors to promote academic development and social progress across the world in order to contribute to the development and prosperity of humankind. Beijing Forum believes in promoting and safeguarding the progress of the human society through the peaceful integration of civilizations.

 

Beijing Forum, which was initiated in 2004, is held annually. This year will see its ninth anniversary. So far it has witnessed the involvement of a total of over 3300 participants including well known politicians and noted scholars from more than 70 countries and regions around the world.
