USA Presidential advisor shares her life at PKU

Peking University, Oct. 30, 2012: Julia Wu, former USA Presidential advisor, took her new book The Unfulfilled American Dream to Peking University (PKU) Library, together with a reading lecture.

In the lecture, Mrs. Wu shared her transformation experience from an international student to an education expert, an elected official, and finally a presidential advisor.

 

Born in Nanjing, Wu finished her study in tough conditions in Taiwan. Aimed to chase her American Dream, she then went to the United States by herself and received dual Master Degrees in Education Administration and Information Science.

 

Julia Wu is active in the fields of education and politics, who has been appointed as the presidential advisor for six times. Besides, as a cognoscente on Western Opera, she established the Performing Arts Foundation for Asian American (PAFAA) to encourage outstanding Asian-American musicians.

 

"Life is like a dream, a dream with amazingly variance. Looking back on my life, I find it’s a dream transcend centuries and countries," said Wu in the book’s prologue. As a veteran in the Republican Party, she also provides readers in her book with abundant information in the areas of American society, politics, education, technology, history and so forth.

 

In memory of its 110th anniversary, PKU Library started a topic writing competition. The awarding ceremony was held shortly before the lecture.
