John Holden wins 2017 Friendship Award conferred by Chinese Government

 Peking University, October 11, 2017: John Holden, Associate Dean of Yenching Academy, Peking University, wins the 2017 Friendship Award conferred by Chinese government. The Friendship Award is the highest award for foreign experts who have made outstanding contributions to China’s economic and social progress. The award is granted to 50 foreign experts from 21 countries this year.

Li Keqiang, Premier of the State Council, met the award winners and their relatives at the Great Hall of the People on the afternoon of September 30. Premier Li extended his congratulations to the recipients and spoke highly of their efforts to promote China’s development and strengthen the friendly relation between China and other countries.


The award recipients introduced to premier Li their main achievements in different areas, such as pushing forward innovation and entrepreneurship, revitalizing real economy, and promoting two-way investment. They expressed their gratitude to Chinese government and said that they would continue to contribute to China’s development. Together with their family members, the experts also attended the reception celebrating the 68th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
