Gong Qihuang elected vice president of ICO

Peking University, Aug. 26, 2017: From August 21 to 25, the 24th Congress of the International Commission for Optics (ICO-24) was held in Tokyo, Japan. The 2017-2020 Election of the General Assembly was carried out during the Congress, Gong Qihuang, vice president of PKU, director of the State Key Laboratory for Artificial Microstructure and Mesoscopic Physics and chairman of China Optical Society, was elected vice president of the International Commission for Optics (ICO).

ICO, founded in 1947, aims at promoting the application and advancement of international optics and photonics. The commission has 53 Territorial Committee Members and 7 International Organization members, and its General Assembly is held every three years during an ICO Congress, which is renowned as the Olympiad of International optics.
