Peking University HSBC Business School Officially launches its Campus in UK

Peking University, June 1, 2017: Peking University HSBC Business School signed an agreement with Open University, United Kingdom to purchase its campus at Oxfordshire on February 2nd, 2017 and they completed the handover recently.

At 1pm on May 15th, 2017(British time), the two sides held the handover ceremony. As the founding dean of PHBS Professor Hai Wen accepted the key of the campus from Dorian Holloway, head of Property and Regions of Open University, Peking University HSBC Business School UK Campus (PHBS UK) opens officially. More than 50 guests from China and Britain attended the ceremony and witnessed the historical moment of Peking University’s internationalization.

In order to commemorate the 40 years of opening of Open University Oxfodshire campusPeking University HSBC Business School made a commemorative plaque. Professor Hai and Holloway unveiled it together in the handover ceremony and opened a new chapter for the campus.
 
Hai Wen made a speech
 
The handover ceremony began with the welcoming speech delivered by Professor Liu Shaojia, director of PHBS UK campus. Professor Hai Wen introduced the history of Peking University and the development of Peking University HSBC Business School. He remarked,” The establishment of new campus in UK will not only provide opportunities for students from all over the world to study abroad, but also promote academic cooperations among Peking University, Peking University HSBC Business School and British universities.”
 
Dorian Holloway delivering a speech
 
Jin Xu, Minister Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in the UK, Richard Byard, director of Business Development at Oxfordshire, Katherine Peringer, representative of British Council and Debbie Dance, director of Oxford Preservation Trust, all delivered a speech and extended their greetings in the opening ceremony.
 
 
After the ceremony, Professor Hai Wen, Professor Liu Shaojia, and alumni of Peking University in the UK as well as personages of all fields, including scholars, industrial and commercial figures held a forum for alumni development and suggestions for campus development.

During Hei’s stay in UK, he also paid a visit to Wand Yongli, Minister Counsellor for Education at the Chinese Embassy to the UK, local Chinese professors and scholars, and visited Mansfield College and Kellogg College of Oxford University. Besides, he discussed matters related to cooperation with Professor Paul Flather, senior academician from Kellogg College and Professor Bent Flyvbjerg from Saïd Business School. And he visited the students’ dorms of Mansfield College and Henley Business School which are under construction.
