Alumni from National School of Development Celebrate Peking University's 119th Birthday

Peking University, May. 11, 2017: May 4th, 2017 was Peking University's 119th birthday and the start of the countdown for the 120th anniversary. On this special day, the National School of Development held a donation ceremony on the first floor of Langrun Yuan, which was a birthday gift for Peking University.

The donation ceremony was held by Yao Yang, Dean of the National School of Development. He expressed gratitude for alumni's love and trust for Peking University and the National School of Development.

Peking University National School of Development Alumni Fund was established in January 2014. It has not been a long time since the fund was established, but it has already received more than 22 million RMB in donations. The fund has always adhered to the principle of “taking from alumni, used for alumni and students”.

Zhu Shanlu, president of Peking University Education Foundation, has been particularly concerned about the development of Peking University and the National School of Development Alumni Fund. He said that the donations of alumni are of great significance to the school because the core of our goals is to educate people.
 
Ms. Gao Yaping donated 2 million RMB to the alumni fund, and named two classrooms in new campus “Chengze Yuan”. Although she was only admitted into National School of Development in 2016, she was deeply moved by the National Institute's devotion to help China develop, and was very willing to contribute to the development of the school.
 
2015 EMBA student Liu Qing from the National School of Development donated 1 million RMB, and named a classroom in the new campus “Chengze Yuan”. At the same time, 2015 EMBA class students also collectively donated 1 million RMB, and named a classroom. One student, Ms. Li Manwei, said that the education there not only gave her business knowledge, but also enhanced her knowledge of life in general and the world.

Alumnus Jia Hongpo, on behalf of the company ‘Tesi’, donated the intelligent campus management system for Chengze Yuan, which was worth two million RMB. He said that over the years, he had been studying as the audience. But today he had the opportunity to stand on stage, which was for him a great responsibility. As an alumnus, he felt that the best proof of success was not only business success, but also the intrinsic value of the product.
 
Alumnus Yuan Xukun and his classmate Zhang Beiyu jointly set up a business when studying in the National School of Development for an MBA degree. They donated air purification products worth 1 million RMB, hoping that teachers and students can enjoy fresh and clean air in Chengze Yuan. Wang Hai Shan was a 2004 EMBA alumnus, as well as a 2015 student. On behalf of China Construction Association Certification Center, he and his classmates in the 2015 Doctor of Professional Students (Financial Management) class jointly donated green building certification consulting services, hoping that Chengze Yuan can achieve world-class environmental levels in accordance with green building standards. According to the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI), there were 10 buildings in Yale, four in Cambridge, and 25 in Harvard. Wang hopes that Chengze Yuan can be among the first batch of green certified buildings in China.
 
Alumnus Qi Quan, on behalf of the National Xintai Inspection Test and Certification Center, donated services to the new campus to calculate the health index of the indoor environment. He felt that the most straightforward motion to contribute to his alma mater was to try his best, to never forget where we come from, and to put ideas into practice.
 
The last speaker was Mr. Liu Dawei, vice president of the company ‘Yixin’, which has been working with National School of Development for many years. A number of executives of the company have studied there. The company's donation of 1 million RMB and naming a classroom, according to Liu, reflected the close bond between the company and Peking University. Meanwhile the company would also donate 150,000 RMB for three consecutive years to set up scholarships.
