3 specialties in the School of Foreign Languages rank top 50 worldwide

Peking University, June 1, 2013: According to the latest QS World University Rankings by Subject, 3 specialities in the School of Foreign Languages have remained top 50 for the last three years.

In 2011, 2012 and 2013, Modern Languages (including French, German, Spanish, etc.) rank respectively 25th, 6th and 13th; Linguistics, namely, on the study of language structures and why disparities exist between languages, with translation, interpretation, and language education included, ranks 14th, 21st and 20th; and English Language and Literature 19th, 39th and 50th.

As a discipline, foreign Languages and Literature at PKU have enjoyed good academic reputation both at home and abroad. In the 2012 overall evaluation of national first-level disciplines, PKU School of Foreign Languages tops the list for the third time after 2004 and 2008. The high academic competence it displays among world-class universities manifests its academic influence around the world.
