PKU professors receive 60-year Outstanding Contribution Award for China's computer industry

Peking University, Jan. 17, 2017: On January 14, 2017, China Computer Federation Awarding Ceremony of 2016 was held in Beijing. 31 computer scientists, who involved in the early development of China’s computer industry, were presented with 60-year Outstanding Contribution Award for China’s Computer industry to honor their great contribution to China’s computer industry.

Chen Kunqiu, professor of Institute of Computer Science & Technology, won the award for her special services in the training and designing of the PKU’s self developed midsized computer known as “Hongqi”, and her extraordinary contribution to the large software and implementation in the system of laser phototypesetter of Chinese characters as the chief architect in the program.
 
Xu Zhuoqun, professor of School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science, received the honor for his importance work during the developing of China’s first electronic integrated circuit mega computer 150 (DJS11).
 
Background info:
China Computer Federation (CCF) was established in 1962 and is a member of China Association for Science and Technology. As China’s largest computing society, CCF supports the professional growth of its members by providing academic and career development service, promoting academic progress and application of technological achievement, carrying out academic evaluation and leading academic direction. CCF also provides recognition of technical excellence. The CCF NOI is a renowned competition for student programmer nationwide.
