Peking University, January 21: On January 8, 2017, the celebration ceremony of the 20th anniversary of Peking University School of Arts and ‘Future Art Education’ Forum was held at Sunshine Hall of Yingjie Exchange Center. Hao Ping, chairman of PKU council, Guo Yunde, vice president of China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Liu Dawei, chairman of Chinese Artists Association, Sun Ruofeng, director General of Department of Culture Science and Technology, Ministry of Culture, Guo Lei, president of Beijing Dance Academy along with other distinguished guests attended the ceremony. Representatives of PKU’s administrative departments and about 300 students of PKU School of Arts were also present.

The ceremony was hosted by Tang Jinnan, deputy secretary of CPC Committee and assistant dean of PKU School of Arts. Hao Ping, chairman of PKU council, first gave a welcome speech. Looking back on PKU art education over a century, he raised three pieces of advice for PKU School of Arts: Firstly, it should always cultivate both performing skills and moral integrity of its students. Secondly, it is supposed to develop art by the way of Chinese Characteristics, and construct China-featured artistic theory. Finally, it should serve the national strategy and the people.

The following lecturers such as Guo Yunde and Liu Dawei also appreciated PKU School of Arts for its outstanding contribution in the advance of China’s culture and arts. Besides, they acknowledged its efforts in combining PKU artistic traditions with foreign elements, thus reaching a higher record of creativity. Globalization would be a precious opportunity to present our arts to the whole world, and the advent of e-education marks a new epoch in the history of art education.
