Robert Ng Chee Siong appointed as Honorary Trustee of PKU

Peking University, Nov. 10, 2016:On November 4, 2016,Robert Ng Chee Siong (Ng), the chairman of Hong Kong property development conglomerate Sino Group, visited PKU. Chairman of Peking University Council Zhu Shanlu warmly welcomed Ng and engaged him as an honorary trustee of PKU.
 
Zhu Shanlu thanked Ng for his continual support and concern towards PKU, and amplified a series of innovations and improvements pushed on in PKU. In particular, Zhu talked of the ideas of constructing Shenzhen Graduate School (PKUSZ). He stated that PKUSZ would promote the mutual communication between the mainland andHong Kong, and would contribute to the stability and prosperity of Hong Kong. Besides, Zhu hoped that Ng would offer more valuable advice over the school running and give more support to PKU’s construction.Ng expressed his gratitude for receiving such an honor, and showed his confidence in PKU’s future development. 
 


 
In the meeting, Zhu Shanlu presented Ng with a bronze medal embalming the honorary trustees of PKU, and a letter of appointment from International Consulting Committee.
 
Ng, along with his Sino Group and Ng Teng Fong Charitable Foundation, has always held a long-playing friendship with PKU. In 2011, The Ng Teng Fong / Sino Scholarship for Outstanding Youth was established by the Ng Teng Fong Charitable Foundation, to award outstanding young scholars and bolster up excellent students to have overseas exchange. In December, 2015, Ng donated to propel the setting up of the Incorporated Research Institute joint by PKU and NTU (Nanyang Technological University), which laid emphasis on the multi-mode and big-data analytical technique of “Smart city”, as well as corresponding human-centered technology concerning healthy life and life-long study. It also provides opportunities of academic exchanges for undergraduates and graduates from PKU and NTU.
