Peking University, Oct. 16, 2013 ：The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2013-2014 was released on Oct.3rd, 2013. Peking University (PKU) ranks No.45, one place higher than that of last year, keeping being in the first place among all the universities and colleges in mainland China.
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings ( THE Rankings), updated each year since its establishment in 2004, has now become one of the most influential and globally acknowledged university rankings. THE Rankings employ 13 carefully calibrated performance indicators, the five core indicators being teaching ability, researching ability, publications’ impact, income, and the level of internationalization. PKU has always ranked high. This year, six universities in China (two from the mainland) are among the top 200.
The academic performances of natural sciences, engineering technology, and social sciences of PKU, evaluated individually, among all the teaching and researching fields, all rank among the top 50 in the world.
