Apr 15, 2013

Peking University, Mar. 31, 2013: PKU Council Chairman Zhu Shanlu met with the President of Sinar Mas Group Huang Zhiyuan (Indonesian name: Teguh Ganda Wijaya) on March 27 to discuss alumni affairs in general and Huang’s personal support of PKU specifically.

Huang, PKU alumnus who holds an honorary doctorate, is an overseas Chinese living in Indonesia. He cherished his Chinese roots and maintained strong bonds to his Alma Mater throughout his live. As the further development of PKU is an issue that he is strongly concerned with, he supported the university with considerable donations that contributed to the construction of new university buildings and other research or teaching related funds.

During the talk, Chairman Zhu, on behalf of PKU, appreciated Huang’s support and assistance over the years and presented the university's development plan. “Beida people should have a Beida dream.”

Zhu interpreted the “Beida dream” as a common effort of all PKU students, faculty and staff to build PKU into a world-class university with Chinese identity and globally unique traits. “I kindly invite all alumni and people feeling close to our university to participate in this process,” Zhu added.
