Two PKU professors honored 2012 Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Award

Peking University, Nov.19, 2012: The 2012 Award Presentation Ceremony of the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation (HLHL) was held on October 29 at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse. Two Peking University (PKU) academicians, Prof. Mei Hong from school of electronics and computer science as well as Prof. Zhu Yuxian from school of life sciences, were awarded the Science and Technology Progress Award.

 

The Hong Kong-based HLHL is the largest private scientific and technological foundation in China, established in 1994 with funds donated by the Ho Heng Foundation Ltd. and Dr. Liang Qiuju, Dr. He Tian, Dr. Lee Quo-wei's Wei Lun Foundation. It aims to reward the scientific and technical personnel with outstanding achievements and great innovations, so as to promote the development of science and technology in China. The “The HLHL Prize” is awarded annually and consists of three parts, “the HLHL Prize for Scientific and Technological Achievement”, “the HLHL Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress” and “the HLHL Prize for Scientific and Technological Innovation”.

 

The 2012 Award Presentation Ceremony handing out a total of 50 awards, namely 35 awards of Scientific and Technological Progress and 15 Awards of Scientific and Technological Innovation to eminent scientists.

 

Up to now, among the Ho Leung Ho Lee awards winners, altogether 44 are from Peking University, which ranks the first.
