Cai Hongbin elected to the Econometric Society Council

Peking University, Nov. 29, 2012: Peking University (PKU) Guanghua School of Management (GSM) Dean Cai Hongbin was elected as the Econometric Society Council member on November 19.

Professor Cai Hongbin is the first scholar from the Chinese Mainland to be elected into the Council as a representative from Far East. Before that, he has been elected as member of the Governance Committee, and participated in amending the important regulations.

 

Cai has done original accomplishments in the areas as Game Theory, Information Economics, Economics of Industrial Organization, Political Economics, China's economy and so forth.

 

Since joining the GSM in 2005, he has focused on academic research, combining economic theories into Chinese practices. In his charge, youth teams use strict methods to study into China’s economy. After down in administration, he has kept on doing researches at leisure time.

 

While expressing his honor to be a council member, Professor Cai said he would actively do relevant works. Also, he hoped that with the development of Chinese economic studies, more Chinese voices would be heard by global economic circle.

 

Background Info:

 

Founded in 1930 and now regarded as the most influential institution in global economic field, the Econometric Society has attracted the world’s toppest economists to join it. Most of the Nobel Economics Prize winners are fellows of it. It is aimed to promote exchanges between theological and positive economics by using strict scientific methods. The responsibilities of its council members are to provide guidance, amend regulations and elect its permanent body - the Executive Committee.
