Peking University, Apr. 9, 2012: On April 3rd, "Salewa Cup" the 7th outdoor skills competition of the PKU Mountaineering Association grandly opened by the lakeside of Weiming Lake. Altogether twenty-three teams from PKU Mountaineering Association and other twenty-one universities around the nation assembled here under the rock wall outside the No.1 Gymnasium.
The opening ceremony
The head of the Division of Physical education Hao Guang'an gave the opening speech, extending his sincere thanks to the match officials, students participating in the game, relevant parties of PKU and sponsors. In his speech, Hao highly praised the Association's contribution to the development of PKU physical culture and he called for others to learn from the Association in its mode of training and competition. Finally, he hoped that all the participants would enjoy the game and apply what they had gained from the competition to their later activities.
The competition carried on for two days. On April 3rd, high-altitude events, outdoor rescue and rock climbing on campus were unfolded, while on April 4th, the orienteering was held on the Baiwang Hill. In order to enhance the communication among the outdoor associations of these universities, an outdoor forum was organized in the evening of April 3rd, providing a communication platform for those who like doing outdoor sports. On the forum, to better learn from each other and make progress together, the associations exchanged their thinking about the outdoor sports of modern college students.
On the games site
After two days tight race, the first nine teams, including PKU Team One, Climbing Club of China University of Geosciences, Xiamen University etc. won the Group Award. Beihang University, PKU Team Two, Tsinghua University and Fudan University won the single awards.
