Law 7 Union holds 2017 Student Organization Development and Reform Forum

Peking University, April 16, 2017: In order to thoroughly implement the Central Document No.31 and the reform of Youth League Central Committee Organization, and lead students’ organization in Beijing to develop together, Law 7 Union, sponsored by Graduate Student Association of Peking University Law School and other 6 university Graduate Student Associations, its 2017 Student Organization Development and Reform Forum was held on April 16, 2017 afternoon at the lecture hall of Leo KoGuan Building. Including the teachers in charge of Youth League Committee of PKU Law School, more than 100 core members from the 7 Graduate Student Associations participated in the forum.



During the forum

Deputy Secretary of Law School Youth League Committee, Fu Chengyu on behalf of the Party and Youth League Committee of PKU Law School delivered an opening address. He showed welcome to the core members of universities, and hoped everyone could share experiences with question and discussed development and reform together. Fu signified that National University Ideological and Political Work Conference and the Central Document No. 31 brought up new demands for us under the new circumstance to fully bring out the effect of Youth League Committee Study Department and strengthen ideological and political work in universities.
 
During the conference, presidents of the seven Graduate Student Unions gave theme reports based on the practices of student organizations in their own universities. President of PKU Law School Graduate Student Union, Cao Fengyu, introduced the development of PKU Law School Graduate Student Union, shared work experience, and signified that instudents organization reform, we ought to hold new spirit and concept, focused more on the changes of idea and system, and strived to build up learning-oriented, service-oriented, innovation-type and integrity organizations. President of Tsinghua University Law School Graduate Student Union, Guo Feng discussed the question—“the establishment of student organization and brand cultivation”, and proposed his idea about optimizing configuration, selecting and appointing talents, synergy of departments and guidance of ideology. Law School Graduate Student Union presidents from the other universities also shared their insights about the development and reform of student organizations.
 
During discussion and question session, student cadres discussed issues of young students’ interests, and reached broad consensus on the further enhancement of the resource sharing and work coordination on the Law 7 Union platform. Studentspresent at the forum showed gratitude to the preparatory work of PKU Law School Graduate Student Union, hoped that the constructive suggestions in this forum would be put into practice, and trigger the development and reform of Beijing Law School Graduate Student Union to grow.
 
Background information:
 
Law 7 Union was established in 2014, and cofounded by PKU Law School Graduate Student Union, Tsinghua University Law School Graduate Student Union, Renmin University Law School Graduate Student Union, Chinese People'S Public Security University Law School Graduate Student Union, China Youth University of Political Study Law School Graduate Student Union, University of International Business and Economics Law School Graduate Student Union, Beijing Normal University Law School Graduate Student Union together. Its objective is to build a platform where Beijing law schools and law graduate students can discuss work experiences, share resources, and take major advantages to advance the development of student organizations.
 
The 2017 forum was held in the background of thorough application of the National University Ideological and Political Work Conference and the Central Document No. 31. It is the universities’ positive response to “Students’ Federation Union Reform Implementation Plan”. The forum closely followed the Youth League Committee and student union reform, offering chance for law school graduate students to exchange experiences and learn from each other, which would play a positive role in pushing forward student organization reformand development and cultivating youth students’ sound outlook on the world, life and value.
